End of the Decade Review

As we end the decade review, it’s a wonderful time to look back at the time passed and reminisce over the professional and personal accomplishments.

10 years ago, I was just six months into my first “real job” after college. I thought I was smarter than most and that I had all the answers. I assumed it was only a matter of time until I was leading a large team.

In fact, I lacked self awareness and my list of unknown unknowns was vast. However, despite my initial hubris I was able to learn a lot, take my time, and have a lot of luck along the way.

Looking back over 10 years, I found that I wanted to share these top 5 of the last decade:

  1. Married wife, two babies
  2. One company M&A transaction, PE-backed
  3. One MBA degree at UCLA, top 15 business school
  4. Started doing “digital”, built Face the Buzz and then sold it in private transaction
  5. Purchased first home and oversaw gutting & remodel

Despite trying in the past, I’ve not bought into the long-term goal setting. Yet, I’m still incredibly excited for the next decade. I feel like my experience will continue to compound my outcomes, while I simultaneously fine tune my ability to work smarter (and not always just harder)

What’s your top 5 of the past 10 years?
